Heavy January

This January, I'm going to listen to the collected works of the stoner/doom band Bong, and I'm going to blog about it. I've not really listened to them before, though as you can see from my Bandcamp profile I like stoner/doom heavy music. 

Over the holiday period I read Electric Wizards: A Tapestry of Heavy Music by the music critic JR Moores. I liked the book, and might critique it later on. However, on reading I was left with only a limited sense of what made a record "heavy", notwithstanding subjectivities. This is perhaps because unpacking the sonic aesthetics of "heavy" music isn't at all easy. So, I'm going to try to do this, by listening to everything that Bong have for sale on Bandcamp, and writing about the experience.
